چکیده

In Iraq an industrial revolution is in full swing and is advancing more quickly than is fully appreciated. Most Iraqi industrialists have learned from the lessons of history and are not committing all the blunders made by the industrialists of the nineteenth century in Europe. The biggest and most important industry in Iraq is undoubtedly agriculture, and great efforts are now being made to mechanize and to introduce modern methods of irrigation and fertilization. In England agriculture is one of the healthiest occupations but in Iraq it is the reverse. Iraq is divisible into a number of distinct areas according to the nature of the land, and consequently the crops grown in each zone vary so that the health hazards differ likewise, but it is not exaggerating to state that the average agricultural worker (fellah) is a living pathological specimen as he is probably a victim of ankylostomiasis, ascariasis, malaria, bilharzia, trachoma, bejel, and possibly of tuberculosis also. If the various development schemes are allowed to proceed without the advice and wholehearted support and help of the public health specialists and sanitary engineers, such diseases as manmade malaria and bilharzia will spread to areas hitherto free, just as in Egypt. At the present moment the Iraqi Government Principal Bureau of Statistics is undertaking an industrial survey, and though the results are not available yet, some information can be given. There are approximately 150 firms which employ 50 or more workers, of which the Iraq Petroleum Company is the biggest employer with

An Analytical Approach for Single and Mixed-Model Assembly Line Rebalancing and Worker Assignment Problem

In this paper, an analytical approach is used for assembly line rebalancing and worker assignment for single and mixed-model assembly lines based on a heuristic-simulation algorithm. This approach helps to managers to select a better marketing strategy when different combinations of demands are suitable.Furthermore, they can use it as a guideline to know which worker assignment is better for ea...

A Novel Interactive Possibilistic Mixed Integer Nonlinear Model for Cellular Manufacturing Problem under Uncertainty

Elaborating an appropriate cellular manufacturing system (CMS) could solve many structural and operational issues. Thereby, considering some significant factors as worker skill, machine hardness, and product quality levels could assist the companies in current competitive environment. This paper proposes a novel interactive possibilistic mixed integer nonlinear approach to minimize the total co...

Simultaneous Multi-Skilled Worker Assignment and Mixed-Model Two-Sided Assembly Line Balancing

This paper addresses a multi-objective mathematical model for the mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing and worker assignment with different skills. In this problem, the operation time of each task is dependent on the skill of the worker. The following objective functions are considered in the mathematical model: (1) minimizing the number of mated-stations (2), minimizing the number of ...

An algorithm for integrated worker assignment, mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing and bottleneck analysis

This paper addresses a multi-objective mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing and worker assignment with bottleneck analysis when the task times are dependent on the worker’s skill. This problem is known as NP-hard class, thus, a hybrid cyclic-hierarchical algorithm is presented for solving it. The algorithm is based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Theory of Constraints (TOC) an...

Using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps for Prediction of Knowledge Worker Productivity Based on Real Coded Genetic Algorithm

Improving knowledge worker productivity has been one of the most important tasks of the century. However, we have few measures or management interventions to make such improvement possible, and it is difficult to identify patterns that should be followed by knowledge workers because systems and processes in an organization are often regarded as a death blow to creativity. In this paper, we se...
